Stimulus Fraud- 700 Fictitious Districts "Reporting Errors"

The White House website, which claims that more than 640,000 jobs have been "saved or created" by the $787 billion Stimulus plan, admits its' reporting of statistics may have a few "errors."

For instance, 700 nonexistent congressional districts.  In a facetious statement released by  Utahs'  1st District Congressman, Rob Bishop:  "This is great news!  Who needs to count Mormon missionaries in the census, when, according to the Executive Branch, Utah already has a fourth seat in Congress!  Even better, that 4th seat was able to secure $1.1 million from the Economic Recovery Act.  Unfortunately, that million dollars was unable to create jobs in the 4th District."   (Admittedly hard to do in a place that is nonexistent.)

The 4th is not the only "Phantom" district in Utah. The "00" congressional district was able to "create or save" 26 stimulus jobs, for a price tag of $539.834.00 and the 68th District, $29,180,  the 23rd- $4,685.  None are actual Districts, which leads one to ask, "Where did the "actual" money go?"

A GUIDE TO THE STIMULUS- DISTRICT BY (PHANTOM) DISTRICT

Alaska-13, American Somoa-3, Arizona-14, Arkansas-9, California-9, Colorado-10, Conneticut-8, Delaware-4, Florida-6, Georgia-7, Guam-6 (?-221 million!!!), Hawaii-4, Idaho-10, Illinois-6, Indiana-5, Iowa-5, Kansas-10, Kentucky-8, Lousiana-8, Maine-3, Maryland-15, Massachusets-6, Michigan-10, Minnesota-11, Mississippi-6, Montana-13, Nebraska-12, Nevada-4, New Hampshire-4, New Jersey-18, New Mexico-10, New York-11, North Carolina-6, North Dakota-12, Northern Marianna Islands-5, Ohio-10, Oklahoma-9, Oregon-9, Pennsylvania-5, Puero Rico-11,Rhode Island-3, South Carolina-7, South Dakota-9, Tennessee-7, Texas-7, Vermont-7, Virginia-12, Washington-9, Washington D.C.-12, (Little close to home, nobody noticed 12 extra Districts),West Virginia-8, Wisconsin-6, Wyomin

700 fictitious Districts, 6.4 billion dollars sent God knows where. Over 10% of 640,000 jobs claimed created, nonexistent jobs in nonexistent places. The GAO (Government Accountability Office) states that an additional 50,000 jobs have been claimed for stimulus projects that have yet to spend any money. But it goes on to say that it gives Obama Administration "high marks" for its' "efforts" at transparency and accountability. Meanwhile, the administration has just announced an additional $98 million it has somehow misplaced, and has no ideas as to where it might have gone.

Still feeling confident about turning over the fiscal responsibility for your health care to the federal government ?

This is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of misleading

statistics" that come out of Washington. It's pure fiction and it is insulting. Great hub..

Where I come from, it's called lying - but this administration like Mr. Clinton's administration gets a pass from the main-stream media and with Obama they're helping to pass on the lies. Despicable. Thanks for this very informative Hub!

Breakfastpop: I hope I'm not being overly optimistic, but I believe more and more people are beginning to see the rest of the ship-sinking iceberg that comprises the Obama administration. People DO finally get tired of having their intelligence insulted, and all the flowery phrases in the world cannot cover up the underlying fertilizer. (Sorry for all the mixed metaphors!)

Cjv123: Again optimistic, but catch Stephanopoulis or SNL this week? Even the most liberal media worms are showing signs of turning.

It is crazy. I have to agree, people are looking at these things and are starting to turn, in my view. I also think that more people are getting involved in politics and are better informed than in the past. They are listening and searching for information which is a good thing. Maybe that is why Obamas poll numbers are tanking.

See, BHO 'means well'. Liberals 'mean well', so it's OK if there's a little fraud or graft or incompetence. They try really hard and they just want what's best for all of us.

Heaven help us if these tiny gaffes were committed under the Bush administration. MSNBC would be live 24X7 with Chris Matthew's tingling leg leading the way.

Simply put, we hold liberals to a lower standard. Sad but true.
